Dental Care for Children in Willow Grove

Pediatric Dentistry in Willow Grove, PA - Heisler & Giannetti Family DentistryGetting kids into the dental chair early in life is vital for the long term health of their teeth and mouth. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that kids be seen by a dentist within 6 months of their first tooth erupting. This may seem early to most parents, but the reason is twofold:

  1. The more exposure a child has to the dental setting, the less likely they are to be nervous about dental appointments.
  2. It gives the dentist and parents time to discuss the common pitfalls that occur with primary (baby) teeth in kids and sets both parents and their children up for future dental success.

Kids visits tend to be short and fun. Depending on the age of the child, the staff will show the patient all of the tools that we use and explain what each does before attempting any treatment. First visits may only include a tour of the office, ride in the dental chair, and an exam by the dentist. As the child becomes more comfortable, cleanings, x-rays (for older children), and fluoride treatments will be added to the appointment.
