Restorative Dentistry in Willow Grove
Even with the most diligent brushing and flossing it is likely that at some point in everyone’s life they will have a cavity. Your tooth is built like a jawbreaker candy with multiple layers. The outermost layer is the enamel. This is the part that you brush and whiten. It is also the strongest part of the tooth. Next is the dentin layer. After the dentin, on the very inside of the tooth, is the nerve. A dental cavity occurs when the outer layer of the tooth (the enamel) is broken down by bacteria and acid to the point that the next layer of the tooth (dentin) is affected.
To treat a cavity, we remove any of the tooth that was affected so that only the healthy tooth remains. We then restore the tooth with a white filling that matches the color of your natural tooth.
